The Yacht Club at Thousand Island Park has been a tradition for generations. At least one incarnation was known as the St. Lawrence Sailing Club, and other records indicate that the first Thousand Island Park Yacht Club was established as early as 1910. At one point, Thousand Island Park was known nationally to hold one of the largest fleets of Lightning Class boats in the country.
Today, the Thousand Island Park Yacht Club (TIPYC) maintains an active sailing program and organizes social events to promote and encourage fellowship, friendship and camaraderie within the greater River community. The Clubhouse, the Thousand Island Park Pavilion, is considered an icon along the St. Lawrence River.
