We’re excited to welcome you to the sailing platform this summer! We have lots of things planned, but most of all, we’re looking forward to fostering a lifelong love of sailing on the St. Lawrence River!
Here’s everything you need to know in preparation for your first week at the TIPYC Sailing Program – where, when, what to bring, and more.
Where to Go
The sailing platform is located in South Bay. Many kids arrive by bike or are dropped off; if you plan to arrive by boat, please dock at the platform. Parking is very limited.
When to Arrive
The sailing program goes from 9:30-12:00 (young ones) and 1:00-3:30 (older ones). For new participants in the morning session, please arrive by 9:00 AM for the swim test on Monday only.
What to Bring
Coast-guard approved lifejacket, hat, sunscreen, towel, water bottle, and a snack. Close-toed shoes are optional but recommended.
Where to get Swag
We are often selling t-shirts, caps, sweatshirts, and other merchandise before or after the sessions. We’ll soon have an online store for you to place an order as well.
What If…
…it rains? In the case of inclement weather, we will meet at (or move to) the Yacht Shop in the maintenance facility next to the back tennis courts. Parents or Guardians will receive a text from Lead Counselor confirming where to meet or pick up. We will provide transportation by golf cart to the Yacht Shop if necessary.
…my child needs to use the restroom? No worries – port-a-potty access is available before you get on the sailing platform.
…I need to contact someone? You can contact us here. You can also email us [email protected] or call/text +1 (315) 965-3140. Of course, you can just walk over to the sailing dock.
